Stewards stepping up to supervise.
Designed for people working in match day and events stewarding, at sports events, parades, concerts or carnivals. It confirms occupational competence for supervisory roles.
You need to be 18 or over. There are no prior learning requirements, although having achieved a Level 2 qualification is useful preparation.
As at Level 2, a work placement runs throughout the qualification and before certification, because the evidence has to come from real events.
Successful completion confirms competence in roles including Senior Steward, Assistant Ground Safety Officer and Marshal.
Five mandatory units.
- Prepare stewards and venues for spectator events
- Manage and maintain stewarding in designated areas
- Manage information for action and decision-making for spectator events
- Develop and sustain productive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
- Monitor and solve customer service problems
Choose two optional units.
Which two depends on the role you are in and what you have already achieved.
- Help to manage and resolve conflicts
- Deal with incidents at spectator events
- Manage resources for safety and security at spectator events
- Manage the efficient use of resources
- Develop your knowledge, skills and competence
Two notes from the specification.
The two Level 2 units are recommended only for learners who have not already completed a Level 2 qualification in spectator safety.
Managing resources for safety and security does not stand alone, despite its credit value. You still need a second optional unit for a full certificate.
How the assessment works.
Assessment is through performance in the workplace. Your assessor marks a portfolio of evidence, which NCFE externally quality assures. There is no written exam.
Simulation is used only where a real work environment cannot produce the evidence. Here that may apply to the unit on dealing with incidents.
Also required before certification.
The ACT eLearning counter-terrorism training, which is free from GOV.UK, and a recognised first aid award.
